The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is introducing a septic system rebate program in efforts to encourage property owners to maintain their septic systems and to help reduce the costs associated with septic maintenance.

As part of the program, the CSRD will cover up to 75% of the eligible expenses for specific services, subject to a maximum amount. This shared investment approach can make septic system maintenance more accessible and affordable for property owners.

Don’t delay

Online applications for this program open on July 29, 2025. Completed applications will be processed in the order they are received until the program has reached capacity. Allocation of funds will be on a first come, first served basis.

Eligible maintenance activities

Property owners can apply for the following rebate funds to conduct these maintenance activities:

• up to $400 to install risers (a portal for ease of access to the septic tank) 
• up to $500 to install or replace distribution boxes (a centralized box within septic field that equally distributes wastewater into connecting pipes)
• up to $300 to conduct a complete system inspection by an accredited Registered Onsite Wastewater Professional (ROWP) 
• up to $200 to install an effluent filter.

Non-eligible maintenance activities

• Septic pump-outs are not included in the rebate program.
