Saratoga Water System Advisory
Water Quality Advisory issued for Eagle Bay and Saratoga Water Systems
CSRD News Posted on June 12, 2026
Users of both the Eagle Bay and Saratoga Water Systems are advised that a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY has been placed on the system effective June 12, 2026.
The advisory has been issued in consultation with Interior Health due to elevated turbidity in the water from the Ross Creek debris flow, recent rain and increased stream flow.
Currently the turbidity in both the Eagle Bay and Saratoga Water Systems has not reached the level required for a boil water notice, but out of an abundance of caution, this WATER QUALITY ADVISORY is being put in place.
People with weakened immune systems, and/or those water users wishing additional protection should take precautions when drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice, or when brushing teeth.
Until notified, these users are advised to:
- Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, or
- Use an alternate, safe source of water.
The Eagle Bay system is located on Eagle Bay Road in Electoral Area C. The Saratoga Water System is located in Scotch Creek in Electoral Area F.
High turbidity (cloudiness) levels may occur in surface water sources due to seasonal weather changes causing excessive surface runoff, flooding or lake turnover. A high turbidity level may reduce the effectiveness of the water disinfection treatment system. If disinfection is impaired, disease-causing bacteria may escape into the water distribution system, resulting in an increased risk of intestinal illness.
The CSRD will inform users once the WATER QUALITY ADVISORY has been removed.
