Multi-use Building
We’re inviting the community today to come to the Celista Hall to discuss what is needed in a community building. We’ve had one meeting with local non-profits to discuss their needs, but we’d like to get public input to figure out if we’re missing anything.
The Multi-Use Building (MUB) is envisioned as a local community building, built on the old firehall lot, that would house a few of the social services that our growing community is beginning to need. For instance, our Food Security group (like a food bank) is becoming busier and is feeding some of our population regularly. They need space for storage, cold storage and packing. Our Historical Society is now homeless and their inventory of historic photos and artifacts need a place to live. and there are other needs.
Ideally, somewhere in the building is a way to generate some revenue so that ongoing maintenance is taken care of, power/water bills, and a reserve is built up to take care of long term needs. This could be in the form of some small apartments on a second floor or possibly a community recreation room, like a gym where ball hockey or pickleball could be played.
We need your ideas, your energy and your creativity. If you have thoughts for uses for the building, or ideas to generate some revenue, come on down or send me an email: JSimpson@csrd.bc.ca.
