North Shuswap Food Bank Challenge
The North Shuswap Food Bank needs your help. Over the last couple of weeks, the NSFB has noticed an uptick in calls. With this lock-down, people are working less, or not working at all. And what’s going to happen to all the tourist jobs this summer? Many people in our communities are wondering where they’ll get the money to pay hydro and buy food.
The NS Food Bank is not in a position to help as their focus is strictly on Christmas Hampers, they are not geared towards full-time support. The nearest Food Bank is in Chase and they are ready, willing and happy to help. In talking to the Chase group, the numbers of families being serviced have doubled over this time last year, and they know a number of people are coming from the North Shu.
We need to get some cash into the Chase Food Bank or the NS Food Bank group. I’m donating $200 today to the GoFundMe campaign, and I challenge those that can, to meet or beat that amount. I also challenge our community to raise $5000 (hopefully more) by the end of April. Let’s support our community and those in need.
Food donations are not being accepted, thanks.
Cash (cheques are best) donations can be made to the
NS Food Bank – 7465 Squilax/Anglemont Road, Anglemont, B.C, V0E 1M8.
You can also drop off a cheque at the Scotch Creek Market or Ross Creek Store addressed to the NS Food Bank
Also GoFundMe for internet donations:

If you need the Chase Food Bank, please call 250-682-6155.
No questions asked and no one turned away.
Right now, the various governments are stepping up to an extent and hopefully those in need will be able to access some emergency funds. But some may not be able to access that and, really, that’s a band-aid and for a short period of time.
The NS Food Bank committee has made a significant cash donation to Chase to help with the costs of providing for our NS residents. Unfortunately, this has depleted their funds for Christmas Hampers. But that’s a problem for another day.
TODAY, THERE IS A NEED! Please help.

I will donate to the food bank. Please I would like to do an e transfer rather than a cheque. Do you have a email address I can send it to.
ThankS
Hi Maggie,
I’ve set up a GoFundMe campaign for the Food Bank. The address is
https://www.gofundme.com/f/covid-food-bank-challenge
You can make a donation there if you wish.
Thanks.
That’s great but the go fund me accounts take money and I don’t like that.
I would like to give so all my money goes to the right place 100%
Hi, GoFundMe does give all the money to the group but asks for a donation for them. You can put in whatever amount you want, including $0. At this time neither the NS Food Bank or the Chase Food Bank have a way to receive eTransfers. This is not ideal but at least provides those who are more comfortable with Internet transfers/payments a way to make a difference. The alternative is to get a cheque to the NSFB via mail or dropoff. Thanks.
